WHAT IS DIASTASIS RECTI?
Diastasis recti is the separation of the
rectus abdominis muscles during and after pregnancy.
​
The rectus abdominis runs vertically along the front of your stomach. It's frequently referred to as someone's "six-pack abs." It's divided into left and right sides by a band of tissue called the linea alba that runs down the middle.
As your uterus expands during pregnancy, the abdominals are stretched and the linea alba thins and pulls apart.
​
After birth, the linea alba can heal and come back together. When the tissue loses its elasticity from being overstretched, the gap in the abdominals will not close as much as it should. This is diastasis recti.
​
If you have diastasis, your belly may appear to stick out just above or below the belly button, making you appear pregnant months or years after giving birth.

Softness or jelly-like feeling around belly button
Coning while doing ab exercises
Difficulty lifting objects or performing everyday tasks

Urine leaking when sneezing or coughing, jumping, during urgency
Constipation
You can check yourself by doing a sit up and pressing down gently on your midline. Is there a gap? Is it squishy?

I can help you keep up your muscle strength with non-weight bearing exercises, specifically geared towards dancers' technique. You can get back to class and performing sooner and stronger!

Hi! I'm Abby Dymond Welch. My first love is dance. I'm a former professional dancer. As a dancer, a strong core is essential. After having 3 babies in 4 years I couldn't bend down without falling over! I couldn't lift my kids without pain. My dancer body was gone. This new body was not functional and I felt awful.
When I found this technology application for diastasis recti, it changed my life. With a personal trainer, I closed my own 2 1/2 finger gap in 6 weeks, regained my strength and my shape. I believed so much in this postpartum support for women I became a certified Personal Trainer and began helping other women regain their strength!
Resources for postpartum women are few and far between. Once the baby is out they think we are ok - and a lot of times, we are not ok. This has become a passion of mine; helping women regain core strength and improve muscle imbalances. You can feel strong again!

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE CHILDCARE TO MAKE A COMMITMENT TO MY SESSIONS?
Don't worry, bring your baby or child. I'll help you and have toys for them to play with.
HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR GYM TRAINER?
I have specialized experience in women's postpartum health issues. I use INS technology to optomize human performance and accelerate your results.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
No, but you may be able to use your HSA or FSA.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WORK?
You will feel improvements after just 1 session. After the first couple sessions many describe their abs as "waking up" again. Many women find significant results after 8 weeks.
